Symphony Console: LN1 32 Channel

Undergoing overhaul is a 32 channel LN1in line console formally of Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, Soho, London.

The 32 channels provide 32 track monitoring, 32 group outputs with channel direct outputs, 64mono plus 6 stereo inputs using the 2 channel signal paths in mix mode, comprehensive monitoring and TB facilities. A very large patch bay is provided with plenty of spare jacks.

Each channel has a line and microphone input with individual level controls, 48v phantom power, pad and phase reverse. Mic. Gain 10 to 70dB and +/-m 15db for line input control. A 5 band equalizer has 3 swept mid bands, bass and treble at 2 frequencies, an eq select switch and Eq to monitor path. A variable frequency high pass filter is included outside the EQ section and is provided with its own in/out switch.

8 auxiliary and 2 stereo cue sends with panning provide a maximum of 13 ancillary outputs from each channel.

Metering via VU meters for the 32 group outputs, 8 auxillary outputs and one pair shared between the two stereo cue outputs. The master stereo 1 output is provided with meters, the selected monitor source and AFL/PFL are metered via another set of meters. All multitrack monitoring is across the tape inputs and outputs (or DAW) so pick up any track that might be over plugged from some other source.

A large patch offers 13 rows of jacks x 34 patch cards of 442 jacks. Generally each output, whether it be from the console or external source has a matching jack except the multiway tape/DAW returns that are normalled to the channel line in and monitor return. Parallels and spare jacks are included for extra external equipment.

Tuchel connectors are used for all input and output connections where all connections use a 3 wire system, an individual ground connects to the patch bay which is the star earth point. All signals are electronically balanced except for the channel insertion points and a few other minor facilities. (A balanced connection to an insert point automatically becomes unbalanced with the low connection grounded). This system has served very well with excellent results in both 17 mobile installations as well as in house studios.

All the potentiometers and circuit board mounted switches have been replaced with approx 25 electrolytic capacitors in each module. All ribbon cables and patch module edge connectors have been replaced. The patch bay has been ovehauled, all jacks checked for solder joints and the jack brass ferrules checked for stability and re-riveted where necessary. The leather armrest, meter panel top and wooden ends have been refurbished. The console frame has been cleaned and aluminium edges re-polished. A short spare parts kit is included plus the DC power connection lead and 6U mains power supply.

Dimensions 2.215M long, 1.2M deep and 55cms high (87.25 x 47.25 x 21.7 inches), legs are removable and generally the console is shipped or delivered complete. Being very shallow in height the console easily passes through a standard doorway on its back and the legs re-attached ready for tipping up into its normal position.

The console is offered on a 3 month a return to base guarantee.

Commissioning of the console on site and control room wiring service is offered as are cables in stock already wired to Tuchel connectors.
