Eurosound recently took delivery of a set of t 2 x 24 custom built high-end microphone pre-amps. These were later to prove their worth. Two days after 'Toots Thielemans' cancelled the recording of his show at the North Sea Jaz Festival - the promoter couldn't find room for the Eurosound mobile (and Toots Thielemans didn't trust the pre-arranged SSL mobile) - he booked into one of the leading studios in Europe for a recording session. Again, the Eurosound mobile was booked. This time the inhouse SSL console went unused.

All Jools Thielemans wanted was to have exclusively Raindirk equipment, the new microphone amplifiers on stagefor best quality possible. After hearing the first recorded notes engineer, producer and artist were immediately convinced that it was worth the wait.

The following weekend the Eurosound mobile recorded the Broadway musical 'Annie' using 96 microphone inputs written to 2 x 96 Pro-Tools HD tracks. The 48 on-stage microphone amplifier outputs were sent directly to the mobile where an 'In Line' Raindirk Symphony console was reconfigured to allow the on stage microphone amplifiers to feed the console monitor returns converting the console to 96 input format. The on board microphone amplifier outputs, together with the on stage microphone amplifier direct outputs were recorded clean and also mixed on the console. Console EQ may be shared between the channels and monitor returns or outboard equipment inserted offering the possibility of having dynamics, EQ, reverb etc on all 96 inputs. Overall opinion of having on stage amplifiers, to quote, "a hammering sound that no one can compete with".

Bram de Groot of Eurosound quotes, "I gave Cyril a call and told him my requirements, no need to think will I have it sound the way I like, it just does! No stress at all, a drawing appears and you maybe move things around a little and amazingly Cyril squeezed 24 microphone amplifiers into one rack. Delivered as agreed sounding gorgeous. A bonus was having a PFL facility on each channel so a line up could be done on stage using headphones and an RTW peak meter we added to the set up.

"The Eurosound Mobile 3 now has a standard input capacity of 128 inputs. The design of the Symphony consoles we have matches all customer demands and it's a pleasure to record 96 tracks or more to tape and have an excellent simultaneous stereo mix, the benefit of having all Raindirk equipment. As with all live work for confidence and reliability the two racks of microphone amplifiers are powered via a pair of power supplies which allow seamless transfer of power via a crossover network allowing for a complete or partial power supply fail. For less demanding requirements the racks may be shared with another Eurosound mobile increasing the 48 channels to 72.

RM6 Microphone equaliser rack purchased by Jorges Fidalgo of Porto, Portugal raised the comment by Jorges," I am very pleased with the rack, a real professional sound.
